White Oak Clinical Canine Massage specialises in the rehabilitation and/or maintenance of canine soft tissues such as muscles, tendons, and fascia, to support or improve your dog’s mobility, behaviour, performance, pain levels, general wellbeing, and quality of life. All treatments are conducted in a confidential, professional, and empathic manner, with your dog’s needs and comfort as my top priorities.
Through dynamic, strong, yet caring and safe manipulative massage, passive soft tissue stretching, and the application of the science-led and clinically trialled Lenton Method®, White Oak Clinical Canine Massage can support dogs suffering from a variety of presenting issues including soft tissue, muscle, orthopaedic, neurological, self-mutilation, and behavioural, as well as maintaining muscular wellbeing in non-presenting dogs. Surprisingly, soft tissue injuries can often be a silent culprit for many musculoskeletal issues including musculoskeletal pain, compromised joint health, intermittent lameness, stiffness, and reduced mobility. Soft tissue injury can also exacerbate underlying orthopaedic conditions, and cause debilitating musculoskeletal pain. The Canine Massage Guild’s founder, Natalie Lenton, has created a pain symptom assessment chart that you can download and use at home to assess whether your dog is in pain, using ‘5 Principles of Pain’ (please see ‘5 Principles of Pain’ Assessment Chart). Clinical Canine Massage offered by White Oak works to resolve and/or reduce the ‘5 Principles of Pain’ by rehabilitating and maintaining muscles and soft tissues back to optimal health, elasticity, and tone, therefore supporting musculoskeletal joint function and durability. In other areas, Clinical Canine Massage promotes blood and lymph circulation, relaxation, and can provide a supporting role in chronic orthopaedic pain management plans by utilising the pain gate theory, addressing areas of overcompensation, and rehabilitating soft tissue that are associated with the affected joints. |
Bella now is much less stiff when she rises in the morning. Both her gait and posture have improved. Bella appears to stand taller and has freer limb movement when out walking. We will be back! |
After 3 clinical massage therapy sessions, Jack now has more flexibility. When out walking with his dog friends, Jack is now more happily engaged in socialisation and play and can keep up with his larger dog playmates. |
Amy is amazing. She has a real understanding of dogs and puts them at ease. Inca now has more energy and joy when out walking. Her right hind is positioned better in posture and gait, with an improved stride length in trot and canter. |
